justinvenona asked: Hey guys,
Thought I'd say as everyone else is already, "Weightless Underwater" is just an incredible composition. I found out about you guys through Envy on the Coast who told me to check you out as Mi fa Mi was coming out. But anyways I was wondering how you guys went about recording that first EP when Casey came in and then went on to get signed to triple crown.
I am in a band right now that has you guys as one of our influences, along with many others, and was hoping what advice you would give through your own experience(s). Here is our site just in case you were curious, http://www.facebook.com/venonamusic
Thanks guys!
Hey Justin,
Jams sound great! We recorded that EP in Andrew’s parent’s basement on Casey’s laptop. Casey engineered / produced the whole thing and as I recall, we had a ton of fun doing it.
I suppose my suggestion to you would be to be smart and strategic with how you promote your band. A long time ago the answer was tour 364 days a year and just grind it out. The truth is there is almost not sustainability in this game plan. People get tired, start hating eachother and your performance and music suffers. With so many online outlets and promotional tools now available at your fingertips you can reach a much larger audience in a much faster and efficient manner. This is an unavoidable truth and worth embracing since it is truly a game changer. Although I still consider it vastly important and probably the best way to make money, I don’t see much point in touring non-stop anymore, despite the fact that some bands swear by it. For now, don’t exhaust your physical and financial resources. Put focus on creating great and consistent content and be sure to keep a concentrated effort on maintaing clever content distribution, frequent activity and engaging with your fans.
Good luck!
