willingwell-deactivated20111026 asked: Sorry to bother you again... but in regards to the pantheism, I know you told me it's completely an unintentional connection, but I just got really thrown off with the whole nautilus reference in "The Crop and the Pest", because the nautilus is a key symbol of the religion. Also, if I only had enough money to get one of Sagan's books, what would you recommend?
Hey man, no bother at all! Alex would be a better person to recommend a Sagan book to you, but I know he loved “Pale Blue Dot”. I’d say buy “Mere Christianity”. It may say written by C.S. Lewis, but just disregard that minor detail! haha
Anyways, the nautilus reference was more in regards to “the golden ratio”. The nautilus shell is one of the most referenced examples of this perfect symmetry in nature. That verse is about evil finding the human to be a perfect dwelling place and the nautilus shell is used to represent that ultimate form of perfection.
